WYLD TECHNOTE 058: Cooperative Collection serials titles - Adding a CCD statement to MARC Holdings Records
updated May 2004The Cooperative Collection Project has ceased. This technote is no longer valid
In November of 1995 an ad hoc committee representing WYLD academic and public libraries discussed the concept of a cooperative collection development program for serials. The goal was to ensure that those serial titles of value and interest would be held permanently in some library in Wyoming. In this way not every library would have to retain full runs of all titles. Beginning in December of that year, libraries submitted to the Wyoming State Library a listing of the serial titles that library agreed to retain. The list of serials titles that comprise the Wyoming Statewide Cooperative Collection Development program is posted at: http://will.state.wy.us/sis/ccd.html
Each library in this program is responsible for creating and maintaining their Cooperative Collection Development statements on the serials titles for which they are responsible. This CCD summary statement is created in the MARC Holdings record according to specific guidelines. Refer to Technote 98, Creating MARC Holdings for Summary Serial Holdings Statements for instructions on creating the 866 tag for the CCD summary statement.
Standardized wording for the CCD summary statement within the 866 tag is:
STATEWIDE COOPERATIVE COLLECTION TITLE. The statement should be entered entirely in upper case. This statement is in a separate 866 tag
and should be entered below the 866 tags entered to describe the library's unique holdings.
