WYLD Interlibrary Loan - OCLC migration from WorldCat Resource Sharing (WCRS) to WorldShare ILL
OCLC has announced December 31, 2013 as the end of life for WorldCat Resource Sharing (WCRS). This means that after December 31, 2013 new ILL requests can no longer be created in WCRS.
The new ILL product is called WorldShare ILL. WorldShare ILL as it is today does not have all the functionality of WCRS. New releases with additional functionality are scheduled for March and August implementations.
OCLC has asked the State Library to coordinate the migration of WYLD libraries included in the OCLC statewide contract. WYLD ILL migration will take place in two phases. Phase 1 of the migration will be in late summer 2013, once the August release is stable. This will include libraries that do not use VDX for OCLC requests. Phase 2 libraries will migrate in early 2014.
Libraries included in phase 1 are: Campbell Co., Laramie Co., Natrona Co., Park Co., Sweetwater Co., Uinta Co., McCracken Research Library, Casper College, Northwest College, Western Wyoming College, & WY State Law Library,
Libraries included in phase 2 are: Albany Co., Big Horn Co., Carbon Co., Converse Co., Crook Co., Fremont Co., Goshen Co., Hot Springs, Johnson Co., Lincoln Co., Niobrara Co., Platte Co., Sheridan Co., Sublette Co., Teton Co., Washakie Co., Weston Co., LCCC, EWC, CWC, Sheridan College, Gillette College, Yellowstone Research Library, Sheridan VA, Newcastle High, Cheyenne East & Central, Carbon Co. School District #2, Crook Co. School District.
OCLC will be providing training as part of the migration process. Trish Palluck will be working with OCLC to keep you informed about the migration timeline and WorldShare ILL developments. A proposal has been submitted to the WLA conference program committee for an ILL pre-conference to held in Cheyenne on Oct.2, 2013. We should know by May 1st if the proposal has been accepted.
