State’s poet laureate publishes
new book: ‘The Ranch:
Wyoming Poetry’
Robert Roripaugh, Wyoming’s current poet laureate, has a new book.
“The Ranch: Wyoming Poetry” was published last fall by the University of Wyoming (UW) and proceeds from the book are being donated to the Owen Wister Review, a literary magazine at UW.
“The Ranch” is a collection of 45 poems and a narrative prologue that center on the author’s involvement with the family-run operation west of Lander during the 1950s and ‘60s.
Roripaugh has been the state’s poet laureate since 1995.
He taught creative writing and Western American literature for more than 35 years at UW. He is the author of two novels and another collection of poetry plus numerous stories and essays.
