WSL opens up statewide lottery
for 10 eBooks
The Wyoming State Library will give away 10 of the Rocket eBook reading devices that were used in 2000 and 2001 to demonstrate electronic book technology to librarians.
The devices had been loaned to librarians around the state to provide individuals with hands on experience with the technology. Those who borrowed the devices were able to upload and read electronic books, evaluate the technology for potential uses and consider the impact on collections and policies.
If your library is interested in entering the lottery for one of the devices, please email your name, institution and brief statement of planned use for one or more devices by Friday, May 17, 2002, to jkrois@state.wy.us. Libraries will be selected based upon anticipated use. Eligible libraries include county, academic and school libraries.
There will be no technical support from the State Library in using or maintaining the eBooks.
The devices were purchased with Library Services and Technology Act federal funds.
