"Art in Bloom" is on-line
To raise money for part of this year's children's summer reading program, the Johnson County Library had staff members and local artists decorate terra cotta flowerpots that are now being auctioned at the library, through May 6. Photos of the flowerpots are available on the Internet at:

"WYOMING READS 2009"
The Johnson County Library and the Kaycee Branch Library will again be participating in the 4th Annual "Wyoming Reads" literacy celebration. The Sue Jorgensen Library Foundation will again be providing every first grader in the state with a hard back book. Over 7,200 books were distributed to Wyoming's first grade readers! The books were given to the children at some 35 celebrations around the state. Over 1,500 adult volunteers participated in making this a magical event for the children. Students in the first grade at Meadowlark Elementary and the Kaycee Elementary will be able to choose from six titles beginning in January. The titles are:THE DAY MY RADIO FLYER FLEW BY ZACHARY PULLEN, ONCE I ATE A PIE BY PATRICIA MACLACHLAN, MY BIG DOG BY JANET STEVENS AND SUSAN STEVENS CRUMMEL, MAX'S WORDS BY KATE BANKS, VULTURE VIEW BY STEVE JENKINS AND APRIL PULLEY, and GORGONZOLA BY MARGIE PALATINI. A local celebration will be held in May where the student will be presented with their book.
Downloadable Audiobooks for Wyoming library users
Beginning in September 2006 library users will be able to preview, download and listen to eAudiobooks through the NetLibrary platform via the Internet. Users can download up to 10 eAudiobooks, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. eAudiobooks can be played on any desktop, laptop or portable device supporting Microsoft Windows Media Player v9 and above, Musicmatch Jukebox v8.2 and above, or Nullsoft Winamp v5 and above. Library users can also transfer titles to a wide range of portable devices, including portable music players, portable media centers, Pocket PCs and even select smartphone devices that support the WMA file format. Additionally, peripheral devices can be purchased for many portable players to allow users to listen to files through their car radios.
